While preparing for the Documenta document-posts I was doing some google-searching. I found this article from 2006 on the art scene in Scandinavia and Airplay is mentioned:

When I read the article a year ago I didn’t notice the potential in the word Kulturwissenschaftlerinnen. From now on, I will present myself as “Sisi. Die Kulturwissenschaftlerin”. Sounds good.

(The article is written by Clemens Bomsdorf and printed in Art. Das Kunstmagazin)

There are two ways of going to Documenta; one is to go during the opening and another is to go during the exhibition along with the ‘normal’ people. For several reasons I was not able to go during the opening, why the trip got postponed to the very last weekend of the 100 days long Documenta 12. I had imagined that all the fuss accompanying the opening of such a major event would be long gone at the 99th and 100th day. Nevertheless, the small town of Kassel was buzzing with people resulting in looong queues and fights against tour groups and excited photographers. The nightmare had its ups and downs all though the overall impression was fairly good. So why mention the big crowd of people? Because the ups reached higher than expected and the downs fell lower than normal as one’s mood was constantly put to the test by the masses.

In the following posts I will jump from peak to peak of Documenta 12. You can expect  reflections on Trisha Brown, a fountain, the tapestry museum, soundpieces, a collapsed sculpture and …

and then… a year went by

In these days it is exactly one year ago I wrote the first post on this blog. It sounded as follows:

Sidsel Nelund, 27/09/06

(In short: welcome to this blog, it will contain comments and reflections on art, sound and London – in spite of my criterias, I am myself curious about the future content of this blog. I hope you will visit often and make comments)

Since then I have changed my language to English to accomplish the desire from new friends, and the themes and frequency of the posts have become more diverse. People haven’t made that many comments – you’re still more than welcome to think with or against me.
Next year I will write from Beirut and Denmark. This year I’m even more curious to know about the content of the blog, as the future seems fairly open right now.

Bon voyage!

(It’s a little bit as Sisyfos with that difference that one makes a difference)
